Sh. Prashant Kumar Singh is presently posted as OSD at MNRE and shall be joining as Secretary MNRE, Government of India from 1st October, 2024. He is a bureaucrat of the Indian Administrative Service of 1993 batch. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi and a gold medal in his Master's Degree in Public Policy & Sustainable Development from TERI University, New Delhi. Prior to this Sh Singh was the CEO of Government e Marketplace (GeM) for almost three and a half years, where GeM witnessed 11X growth to become one of the largest public procurement platforms in the world. Sh. Singh has had two terms earlier in Government of India. He served as Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Steel from 2002-06 where he was instrumental in framing the National Steel Policy. In the second deputation, Sh. Singh was Director and then Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas during 2010-14. He handled refineries, pricing & supply as Director and later handled the Gas Division & International Cooperation Division as Joint Secretary. Sh. Singh is a keen sportsperson and is also an avid reader having multi- dimensional interest areas.
Mr. Tarun Kapoor is Advisor to Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. Prior to this assignment he was Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. He is a member of the Indian Administrative Service with over 36 years’ experience at the State and National levels. He is an Electrical Engineer with Masters in Business Administration. His areas of specialisation are Solar Energy, Hydro Power and energy transition. Before taking over as Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, he was posted as Vice-Chairman, DDA. He has worked as Additional Chief Secretary in the State of Himachal Pradesh looking after various Departments from time to time like Power, Environment & Forests, Food and Civil Supplies, Excise, PWD etc. He has also worked as District Magistrate for Shimla and Chamba Districts and has also worked as Managing Director of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. and Himachal Pradesh Transmission Ltd. He has also worked as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India looking after National Solar Mission for over five years. He also participated in the International Conferences and Seminars mainly in the area of Renewable Energy.

Presentation made on “Next-gen AI Applications in Renewable Energy: Resilient Power Grid & Enhanced Cyber Security(Revolutionizing the Future of Energy with AI-Driven Innovations)” at 1st AI in RE National summit organised by NSEFI on 28th August, 2024. Representing CEA in different Nation Conference i.e. IEEMA, ICuA, Member of 44th ETD of BIS, etc. Member of Governing council of PGCoE in Cyber Security, IISc Banglore, Member of Project Review & Monitoring Committee (PRMC) of National Security Council Secretariat. Presently working for “Cyber Resilient Power Sector in India”.
Zia Nariman is a Senior Investment Officer with the Asia Pacific Infrastructure team and serves as the Regional Climate Lead. She focuses on identifying new climate investment opportunities, structuring climate investments, and designing innovative financial products to drive climate business in the region. Zia has over 20 years of experience in infrastructure and financial services across emerging markets.
Since joining IFC in 2012, Zia has led climate business investments, mobilizing approximately US$500 million in climate commitments. Notable achievements include originating mandates for US$1 billion in climate business investments, facilitating the first SEBI-approved green bond, and green investments in South Asia's port sector. Her tenure has also included advising on IFC’s COVID-19 response and RSE facility.
Zia's previous experience includes working at Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse First Boston in New York and Hong Kong. She holds a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College, an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics, and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Ajay Yadav currently serves as the Joint Secretary at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. He is responsible for two flagship schemes of the Government of India – The National Green Hydrogen Mission and Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
Mr. Yadav has held key positions in several ministries such as the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Ministry of Civil Aviation. With 18 years of experience, he has also worked in revenue and urban administration in the states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Mr. Yadav belongs to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the 2005 batch and holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Roorkee.
Moez Cherif leads the World Bank’s India energy team, focusing on scaling up the energy transition through investments, reforms, and analytics. He previously coordinated the World Bank’s energy and infrastructure engagement in North Africa as Program Leader, focusing on power sector reform, green energy and infrastructure, and regional integration. Moez has been with the World Bank Group since 2005 and has worked both in Washington and in several field offices.
Saurabh Khedekar, is an experienced and long serving executive at the Aditya Birla Group. He is a passionate leader currently serving as the CEO of Hindalco's Alumina Business, which comprises of Hindalco’s Specialty Alumina Business and its Metal Grade Alumina vertical. The Specialty Alumina business is a hi-tech, value-added specialty products business which serves customers across 40 countries globally across diverse industries including the fastest growing markets like EVs, Semiconductors, Electronics and Renewables. On the other hand, Utkal Alumina –the world’s lowest cost alumina refinery represents the Metal Grade Alumina Vertical of Hindalco. Apart from the core alumina businesses, Saurabh is also responsible for Red Mud, Carbon, and Vanadium business verticals at Hindalco. Saurabh started his journey with the Aditya Birla Group, a $60 Bn diverse conglomerate through their flagship Leadership Program ABGLP and has served in varied capacities with the Group’s Metals, Cement, Apparel and Retail, Pulp and Fiber, Textiles and Trading Businesses and include a stint as Principal Executive to the Group Chairman, Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla. Saurabh also has been associated with two significant not-for-profit CSR ventures of ABG – Aadyam Handwoven, which is a pan India social enterprise serving the textile handloom communities of India and Hindalco’s Kosala Livelihood and Social Foundation, where he is the Executive Director. By Qualification, Saurabh is a Chartered Accountant and MBA from Indian School of Business (ISB).
Akilur Rahman, Hitachi Energy - CTO (India) and Market Innovation Lead (South Asia), is leading technology, digitalization and innovation towards the market and customers in India and supporting market innovation in south Asia. Has more than three decades of experience in research, R&D, technology management, engineering, consulting business and product development in power, automation and digital technologies. With a master’s degree in electrical engineering from IIT Kharagpur, Akilur has held various international and global roles in India, Germany and Switzerland including head of global collaborative production management, engineering, and cyber security in process/industrial automation. Was responsible for building up ABB’s global automation software product and system R&D in India. Led ABB corporate research center and technology in India with focus on power, automation, robotics, analytics, AI-ML, Industry 4.0, Industrial IoT and digitalization. Previously held the role of CTO - ABB India. In the current Hitachi Energy, Akilur has been leading core, automation and digital technologies for power, energy and asset performance management in utilities, industries, infrastructure, and transport sectors. Co- creating the concepts and applications of smart electric grid, energy internet, smart cities, sustainable electric mobility, smart production, digital enterprise, carbon-neutral energy future, ESG and CSR. With the mission of faster time to market of technologies, Akilur is connecting market, customers, industry bodies and stakeholders with Hitachi Energy and Hitachi businesses to collaborate on energy transition and digital transformation. Akilur has been a thought leader/speaker and panelist at various international and national conferences.
New and Renewable Energy & Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority
Shri Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe was born on 9th February 1965 in Meluri village of Phek District. He is married to Smt. Larhotshü, and they have three sons and two daughters. Shri Nyuthe has made significant contributions in public administration and other sectors as a leader and policymaker.
Contested the 2018 Nagaland Legislative Assembly elections as a candidate from the 20-Meluri Assembly Constituency under the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP). He successfully won in the 2023 elections and now serves as an Advisor for New & Renewable Energy and the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA).
Dr. Acharya advocates for educated Indians to work in India and contribute to the nation's development.
Shri Pankaj Agarwal is currently serving as Secretary in the Ministry of Power, Government of India, since 1st July 2023. Prior to this role, Mr. Agarwal held the position of Additional Secretary & Director General (Acquisition) in the Ministry of Defence from January 2022. He has also served as Additional Secretary and Joint Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat from 2019 to 2022.
During his tenure with the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Agarwal held several key portfolios, including Principal Secretary roles in Public Health Engineering, Water Resources, Narmada Valley Development, and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
Belonging to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the 1992 batch, Mr. Agarwal brings a wealth of experience across health, industry, infrastructure, and finance, in a career spanning over 29 years.
He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from IIT Roorkee, a Master of Technology in Construction Management from IIT Delhi, and a Master’s in Public Management from the National University of Singapore.
Shri Ghanshyam Prasad, born on 15th May 1967, currently holds the position of Chairperson and Ex-Officio Secretary to the Government of India at the Central Electricity Authority, Ministry of Power, since 15th July 2022. He is also an ex-officio member of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission and the first Executive Director of the BIMSTEC Energy Centre (BEC). Additionally, he serves as the president of the Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP), Power Sector Skill Council (PSSC), and Excellence Enhancement Centre (EEC) for the Indian Power Sector.
Shri Prasad has extensive experience in the power sector, including roles at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), Power System Operation Corporation Limited (POSOCO), and Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation Limited (J&KPDCL). He is currently a Director on the Board of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited in an ex-officio capacity.
He holds a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Benares Hindu University, an M.Tech in Energy and Environment Management from IIT Delhi, and an MBA in Finance. Shri Prasad has led various joint working groups with countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Australia and has been part of the G20 Energy Transition Working Group. He was honored with the Policy Pioneer of the Year award by the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) on 3rd May 2022.
With 34 years in the power sector, including 10 years in the Ministry of Power, Shri Prasad has contributed to areas such as generation, transmission, distribution, power market development, reforms, and energy efficiency. He has worked on innovative solutions to reduce power costs, ease business processes, and enhance sector competitiveness. His current focus includes advancing renewable energy integration, resource planning, and promoting green energy technologies to achieve energy transition and decarbonization goals.
Shri Prasad has also been involved in advancing renewable energy integration and planning for the future of power sector sustainability. His work includes developing the concept of Renewable Energy-Round The Clock (RE-RTC) power and advancing transmission planning for integrating 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030.
Kailash Vaswani is the Chief Financial Officer at ReNew. He has played a pivotal role in leading the company's clean energy transition projects and building a portfolio of renewable energy assets. His work includes providing decarbonization solutions for corporates, creating Net Zero solutions, and addressing renewable energy supply chain challenges through solar PV module manufacturing.
Since joining ReNew in 2011 as a founding team member, Kailash has been instrumental in developing the business plan and raising capital, including a significant initial investment from Goldman Sachs. Over the past decade, he has led all capital raises for ReNew, securing over $10 billion in debt and equity funding. Deepak Gadhia is a pioneer in solar concentrating technology in India, renowned for his contribution to commercializing solar steam cooking systems. In 1994, he facilitated the transfer of Scheffler solar concentrator technology from Germany and developed the world’s first Solar Steam Cooking System for the Brahma Kumaris.
His company, Gadhia Solar, became a global leader in Solar Steam Cooking Systems, implementing more than 60 projects, including the largest system at Shirdi Temple, which serves over 50,000 meals daily. He also developed India’s first solar thermal air-conditioning system for a 160-bed cancer hospital in Gujarat.

He has led groundbreaking initiatives in solar energy, most notably the 750 MW Rewa Project, which set new standards for solar power in India by delivering solar energy at rates lower than coal-based power. This project, the first in the country to supply solar power to an institutional customer, meets 65% of Delhi Metro's daytime energy needs. It has received the World Bank Group's President's Award, and is studied at institutions like Harvard University and Singapore Management University.
Srivastava also pioneered a unique Solar Rooftop project model that involves zero investment by beneficiaries and provides 25 years of savings. Under this model, Madhya Pradesh secured the lowest solar rooftop tariff in India, with the project being implemented across over a hundred organizations in the state.

Rajiv Mangal is the Vice President (Safety, Health & Sustainability) at Tata Steel. Sean is a professional engineer and Principal Renewable Energy Specialist with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). With over 32 years of experience in thermal power plants, Pankaj Kumar Gupta has specialized in the design, engineering, and operation of steam generators, electrostatic precipitators, and environmental systems such as FGD & De-NOx systems. He has been instrumental in developing strategies for implementing these systems at NTPC.

Prof Eicke R. Weber is the co-founder of MCPV, driving gigascale PV cell and module production in Europe. He has served as the founding Chairman and Vice-Chair of the European Solar Manufacturing Council (ESMC) from 2019 to 2024. His past roles include Director/CEO of the Berkeley Education Alliance for Research (BEARS) in Singapore (2017-2018) and Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) from 2006 to 2016. Prof. Weber was also a Professor of Physics and Solar Energy at the University of Freiburg, Germany, and was on the faculty of UC Berkeley’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering (1983-2006).

Prof Dinesh Kabra is the Forbes Marshall Chair Professor of Energy Science and Engineering at IIT Bombay, Mumbai, and Professor in the Department of Physics. He chairs WG-3 (Digital Architecture and Cyber Security) of the India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) and was involved in investigating the Mumbai Grid failure incident on October 12, 2020. Dr. Kazi has also been a visiting research scholar at EPFL, MIT, and Tufts University.

Mr. Pankaj Gupta is the World Bank's Regional Director for the Infrastructure Vice Presidency in the South Asia Region at the World Bank. Currently the Chairman of Regency Power Group, Mr. Sharma oversees a portfolio of 23 MW across five projects. He played a pioneering role in setting up the first hilly hydro power project in Himachal Pradesh under the UNDP program. Mr. Sharma has held several leadership roles, including President of the Federation of Indian Small Hydropower and the Himalayas Power Producers Association.
Mr. Sharma has been recognized for his contributions with the National Performance Excellence Award from the Indian Institute of Industrial Engineering and the Udyog Rattan Award by the Government of Himachal Pradesh, among others. Since 2011, Stephan Opitz has served as a Member of the Management Committee at KfW Development Bank, where he oversees operations in Asia and Europe. His extensive experience spans development finance, export and project finance, and product development within KfW Bankengruppe.

Before his tenure at the World Bank, Mr. Fakhoury held the position of Senior Adviser for Private Sector Solutions at IFC, where he focused on mobilizing finance for development by leveraging private-sector solutions, creating markets, and reducing public debt. Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Mr. Fakhoury served in successive Jordanian governments as Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Minister of Public Sector Development, and Minister of State for Mega-projects. Shivanand Nimbargi is an industry veteran with over 30 years of experience in the energy, transport, and infrastructure sectors. He currently serves as the Managing Director and CEO of Ayana Renewable Power, one of India's largest renewable energy companies. Prior to this role, he held several leadership positions, including MD & CEO at L&T Metro Hyderabad, the world's largest public-private partnership project in the metro sector, and MD & CEO of Green Infra Ltd (GIL), a renewable energy platform backed by IDFC from 2011 to 2016.
Shivanand began his career with Babcock and Wilcox, working in the erection and commissioning of utility power plants. She began her career at GM Research & Development in Michigan, USA, and later moved to GM Global Product Development. There, she played a crucial role in vehicle electrification, leading advanced battery cell engineering projects from cells to modules, packs, and product launch strategies. Dr. Dadheech was responsible for managing GM's advanced technology work projects, developing technology roadmaps, and innovating go-to-market strategies.
In her current role as Chief Technology Officer at Exide Energy Solutions, she is tasked with technology transfer for building India's first gigafactory. She leads Exide’s R&D in technology and product development of Li-ion battery cells, modules, and packs. Her team is responsible for creating the technology roadmap, new product development from coin cells to pilot scale, and overseeing technology transfer for Exide’s upcoming 12 GWh factory.

Mohit Bhargava retired as the Chief Executive Officer of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and was also Executive Director of Renewable Energy at NTPC Ltd. He was responsible for spearheading implementation of Renewable Energy projects pan India for NTPC Limited and creating a name in the RE space. NTPC Limited is the largest power generating company in India and one of the largest globally with an installed capacity of over 75 GW. NGEL is currently a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd. He took over the RE portfolio when NTPC Group had a RE pipeline of only 1 GW. During his tenure of over 55-months as the Head of RE vertical of NTPC, the RE pipeline increased to over 25 GW. This includes operational, under construction and tendered / planned projects. These capacities have firm off-take agreements in place. Consequent to the creation of the strong RE portfolio, NGEL is geared to meet the target of achieving 60 GW+ capacity by 2032. Eiji Wakamatsu is currently Senior Representative of JICA India Office. His responsibility includes energy, forestry, agriculture, volunteers, and public relations. Prior to this role, he was the director and deputy head of the Office for Global Issues and Development Partnership at Japan International Cooperation Agency, responsible for overseeing partnerships with multilateral and bilateral development institutions, South-South and triangular cooperation, as well as contributing to international dialogues on development. Mr. Wakamatsu has previously served as senior deputy director for Energy and Mining Group for sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as deputy director for TICAD (Tokyo International Conference for African Development) and planning division and deputy director in charge of Ethiopia in Africa department. He was also advisor to the Japanese Executive Director for the World Bank from 2010 to 2013. His overseas posting was in Afghanistan from 2005 to 2008. He first joined JICA in 2002.
