Energy Transition: Journey of Fossil Fuel to Renewable Energy |
|
||||
Over the past decade India has substantially increased the role of renewables in catering to the country’s energy requirements. The transition was led by strong commitment from the policy makers and equally supported by the investments from the private sector and the financial institutions. With a target of 175 GW of renewable energy by 2022 and a long-term target of 450 GW by 2030, India has one of the largest transition programs across the world. While coal will continue to constitute the key component of energy mix in India for the next few decades, the key to this energy transition will include stronger commitments from some of the major conventional energy players. This session will deliberate on how such global players changed their strategies and how Indian players are joining this transition.
