Grid Balancing: The Demand-Supply Fundamentals in New Age Systems |
|
||||
Balancing the power system is about ensuring electricity supply meets demand second by second. Electricity, once generated needs to be evacuated to the length and breadth of a country with minute regulation of voltage and frequency across the grid. These Ancillary services in an evolving system. During the first few weeks of the lockdown due to COVID-19, one of the immediate issues that the power sector faced was lowering of demand from the C&I sector. It shed light on why grid balancing and ancillary services is increasingly important in managing change and in managing demand-supply situation. Neither high-power, lower demand nor a low-power high-demand situation is desirable. Keeping in view the complex demand-supply situation it is important to understand what the Grid-Balancing systems and Ancillary Services market look like. This Session will explore different grid balancing examples from the world over and the investments that will be required to put in place a system of the future. Panel Format
